Job Description

Job Purpose

  • Deliver First Choice Customer Service at the Counter and Drive Transactional Sales Growth Making Each Transaction a Positive Memorable Experience for Walk-in Customers
  • Drive sales growth from inside the Branch via signing up new customers, upselling at the counter and implementing out-bound sales programs.
  • Assure Awareness and Commitment to Safety and Environmental Compliance
  • Attain Operational Excellence in Inventory Management, Sourcing, Pricing and GP transactions


Job Summary

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Branch Supervisor will be responsible for assisting the Branch Manager with all daily operational functions, driving sales and maximizing productivity of the Inside Branch Associates.  The Branch Supervisor will also ensure order fulfilment, stocking procedures, and Branch Merchandising practices are adhered to and done efficiently.


Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Lead Branch operations including counter and inside sales, purchasing, warehouse and order fulfillment , Outside Sales Representative support and overall facility supervision
  • Ensure that a high level of customer service is provided and that all customer needs or concerns are met immediately and effectively
  • Lead and be a part of the inside sales team to maintain and/or implement standards and processes to deliver superior customer service and Outside Sales representative support.
  • Coordinate the branch teams’ performance to ensure that work is performed in a safe and efficient manner, and develop effective work and vacation schedules,  Ensure that all sales areas including the counter area are kept clean, shop able, and up to company standard, and that displays, marketing programs and POS product offerings are prominently and effectively displayed
  • Ensure safety and security of associates, customers, suppliers, facility, equipment, inventory and environment
  • Ensure that inventory is properly received, recorded, stored and shipped
  • Comply with all local, provincial and federal regulations in addition to company EHS policies
  • Provide back-up to the Branch manager during his/her absence
  • Participate in annual inventory
  • Drive company culture and initiatives


Qualifications and Experience

  • Three (3) + years successful sales and/or sales operations experience in a customer service and/or related field; industry experience preferred
  • Wholesale distribution experience, specifically experience with construction products, safety supplies, fasteners, tools, abrasives, etc., an asset
  • Post-Secondary Education, Diploma or Degree in Business or related field preferred
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) with knowledge of Great Plains an asset
  • Forklift / Reach Truck License required
  • Experience in freight, shipping and/or receiving
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence and Clear Driver’s Abstract
